Junior First Lego League (Jr.FLL)
Sponsored by Compass Youth Center and in partnership with the Warren County Memorial Library’s Summer Reading Program, N.C. State University and N.C. A & T State University Cooperative Extension, Junior FIRST Lego League is designed to introduce STEM concepts to kids ages 6-9 by an exciting activity familiar to all young people…Legos. Through a grant funded by Jr. FIRST Lego League, Compass welcomes youth to participate in this FREE non-competitive summer enrichment opportunity for the youth of Warren County. A total of 16 teams will be established to include a maximum of six young people per team. Participants will meet once per week for six weeks in a structured environment with their team coach to explore science and technology concepts and complete a group project. At the conclusion of the six weeks, a symposium will be held in Warrenton to allow each team to collectively display their finished project and network with community leaders, peers/parents and others. Weekly team meetings will begin on June 24, 2016 with the symposium scheduled for August 12, 2016.
The theme for this year is “Waste Wise”.
Teams will fill quickly and slots will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
